TekSavvy Giving Broadband a Boost

TekSavvy is currently working on a five year, quarter of a billion dollar effort to improve and increase internet coverage from Toronto to Windsor.

“It is crucial that TekSavvy invests in our long-haul routes back to major centers like Toronto and Windsor, as we build out facilities in Southwestern Ontario and transition to a disaggregated wholesale service,” says Charlie Burns, TekSavvy’s Chief Technology Officer. “Ciena’s world-class optical technology will play a crucial role in ensuring TekSavvy is delivering the best-in-class fibre connectivity for our residential and business customers.”

The deal with Cienna will use their best-in-class optical solutions to complete the long haul transport network.

This will consist of 18 new and established points of presence in the larger urban centers over that stretch.

The immediate goal is to connect 60,000 residences and businesses and bring a competitive choice for fiber internet service.

The deal with Ciena is expected to take up the first half of this year.
