After purchasing the naming rights to Chatham’s Third and Fifth Street bridges last year, a local telecommunications company is giving the public a chance to pick the names.
TekSavvy has launched the “Name the Bridges” contest on the municipality’s Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website. The company will be accepting name ideas for the two bridges between May 17 and June 7 before choosing a shortlist that will be presented to the public for voting.
The winners of the vote will then have their names entered into a draw for a chance to win a gift certificate from TekSavvy.
“The ‘Name the Bridges’ contest is an opportunity for the public to contribute their ideas and leave a lasting mark on our community,” TekSavvy said in a news release.
In 2022, TekSavvy entered into a 10-year agreement with Chatham-Kent to spend $100,000 annually for the naming rights to both the Third Street Bridge and Fifth Street Bridge.
