While testing new text messaging notifications, Chatham-Kent’s electricity provider has raised nearly $10,000 to supportĀ families facing food insecurity.

Through its SMS/Text Alert campaign, Entegrus has raised $9,725 for Salvation Army chapters in Chatham, St. Thomas, and Strathroy.

“The generosity of Entegrus and its customers comes at a crucial time. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward providing meals to those who need them most in our communities,” said Major Larry Bridger, director of The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent, in a news release.

The two-month initiative recruited beta testers for the utility’s new SMS Alerts, while also fundraising enough money to provide the equivalent of around 4,850 meals.

The fundraising campaign concluded late last year.

SMS Alerts from Entegrus provide customers with timely updates on scheduled outages, account notifications, and more. For more information on the program, click here.
