Several charges have been laid in connection to a dog attack in Thamesville.
Police were called to Victoria Street Thursday evening and say one dog bit another while the victim and its owner were out on a walk. Authorities say a 55-year-old Chatham man was bitten while trying to separate his dog from the other, unrestrained animal.
The human victim wasn’t seriously hurt, but his dog sustained injuries requiring medical attention.
The owner of the suspect animal was identified as a 50-year-old woman. Further investigation showed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is reminding all residents of the importance of responsible pet ownership, and ensuring dogs are properly restrained to prevent injuries.
