Chatham-Kent’s mayor is encouraging local residents to show their support for those who help produce the food that Canadians and people around the world eat.
With February 15 marking Canada’s Agriculture Day this year, Mayor Darrin Canniff said it’s important to thank farmers in the community for all of their hard work.
“In Chatham-Kent, agriculture is the number one industry. All you have to do is drive around, there are lots of farms out there,” said Canniff. “We grow nearly 80 different crops here in Chatham-Kent. I consider it the bread basket of Ontario. We are the number one producer of many different products.”
Canadians can also show their support and love for local agriculture through social media using the official hashtag #CdnAgDay.
