The 2021 CK Senior Expo Is Off

Due to the ongoing pandemic and vaccination schedule the 2021 Senior Expo has been cancelled.

The Senior Expo Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the event this year for obvious reasons.

They will also postponed the launch of Senior of the year nominations until June which is Seniors Month in Ontario.

The expo has been held in the Blenheim area for the last 34 years and over that time over 1,000 citizens have been honored.

The nomination launch is now set for June 14th, and the awards are open to any resident 55 or older who has achieved significant goals and made outstanding contributions as volunteers around Chatham-Kent.

The past year has been extremely challenging and older adults have endured a disproportionate amount of the burden,” said Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff. “Despite this, seniors have found ways to step up and contribute. It is a tribute to their tenacity and commitment to community. I’m looking forward to receiving plenty of nominations when the process opens in June.”

CK Councilor and committee chair Clare Latimer says they are hopeful the expo will return in 2022 when we can all gather again safely.
