A Chatham community centre is reopening its doors for the first time since the pandemic began.
The Co. is a collaborative space focusing on creativity and mental health, and this year will be placing special focus on female artists.
Founder Angel Bilagot says they’re holding a special celebration this Saturday.
“A lot of our services were in person, and so now I need to think around how people can still engage but in a safe way,” Bilagot says. “We’re showcasing artists in a very COVID-friendly way, either online or through a window, also through very exclusive events.”
One of those exclusive events will be Saturday’s grand reopening, which coincides with the centre’s one year anniversary.
“You’ll be experiencing some performance art, some gallery work, and also some live art painting around the theme of ‘Connect, Rise, and Shine,’ the theme of COVID and how we, as a community, can work together and come together around it.”
The grand reopening is by registration only, and will follow physical distancing and other COVID safety precautions.
