Theft At Chatham Grocery Store Leads To Charges

A 45-year-old man is facing charges following a shoplifting incident at a Chatham grocery store.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street following a theft at around 8 p.m. on Monday.

Authorities were able to locate a suspect a short distance from the store and he was arrested.

As a result, a 45-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order. He has been released from custody pending a future court date.
