On Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m., the Third Street Bridge was reopened ahead of schedule to both pedestrians and vehicles.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent closed the span over the Thames River on Tuesday for the replacement of deficient asphalt after it failed to pass necessary quality control testing.
The bridge was initially expected to remain closed until Friday at 7 p.m.
