Thompson Running for Re-Election

A familiar face is hoping to win a second term on municipal council.

Trevor Thompson has filed his nomination papers to run for re-election in Ward 2, South Kent.

Many will know Thompson as a member of the 99.1 news team, he will be taking a leave of absence during the election campaign.

Thompson has identified six key areas he wants to focus on in the coming term, including physician recruitment, lowering taxes, eliminating municipal debt, job grow, investing in infrastructure, and continuing to create a community for families.

So far, the only other declared candidate in the ward is Henry Svec. Long-standing councillor Karen Herman has already said she won’t be running again.

The deadline to file nomination papers is July 27th, Chatham-Kent residents head to the polls on October 22nd.
