This year’s Terry Fox Run may have been a virtual event, but local residents still strapped on their running shoes to support the cause.

The 41st annual event, following the theme “One Day, Your Way” gave participants the chance to take part however they saw fit, walking as a small group, hiking on their own, or just around their own backyards.

Participants were encouraged to run on their own schedules this year, registering and submitting donations online.

The Dresden event has so far raised $26,363, while organizers in Wallaceburg say their run brought in roughly $15,000 with more donations expected, including upcoming school events.

Donations can still be made online through the Terry Fox Foundation website, through the Terry Fox Run mobile fundraising app, or by texting “Terry” to 45678.

All proceeds support cancer research.
