A Chatham man is in trouble with police after an argument with a previous intimate partner led to threats.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called on Thursday shortly before 8 a.m. and learned that an argument between the victim and the accused’s new significant other had been taking place over the phone and through text messages.
The situation escalated when the accused also became involved and allegedly threatened to hurt the victim and the victim’s child.
A 26-year-old Chatham man was later arrested and is now charged with uttering death threats and uttering threats to cause bodily harm. He has since been released with conditions and an October court date.
