Two men and a youth are facing charges following a serious stabbing in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on March 24 at around 11:30 p.m. after a male arrived at the hospital with multiple stab wounds. The victim was later transferred to the London Health Sciences Centre where he remains in stable condition. His age has not been released.

Following an investigation, police learned that the victim had been involved in a fight with several other people at an Alexandra Avenue in Chatham. During the incident, the victim was stabbed multiple times before fleeing to seek medical attention.

Authorities said officers attended the home the following day and “safely contained the situation,” telling the public to avoid the area.

Police have since arrested a 25-year-old Chatham man, a 22-year-old Chatham-Kent man, and a youth who cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All three suspects have been charged with aggravated assault, and the 22-year-old is also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused have been held in custody for bail hearings.

An investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519‑436‑6600, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477).
