Three Blenheim men have been charged after two people were struck by a vehicle and shot at with a BB gun.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a fight involving multiple people in the area of William Street North and Sunset Drive in Blenheim on Friday at around 8:30 p.m.
Officers learned that the driver of a vehicle intentionally struck a 23-year-old Blenheim man as part of an ongoing dispute. A 21-year-old Blenheim woman who had run toward the scene to assist was also struck by the vehicle. During the assault, someone in the vehicle also fired multiple BB pellets toward the man.
The victims were taken to hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries. Both have since been discharged.
Following an investigation, three suspects from Blenheim were arrested. Police also seized a BB gun, magazines, and ammunition.
A 24-year-old man has since been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and assault causing bodily harm. An 18-year-old man is also charged with assault causing bodily harm, while a 27-year-old man has been charged with uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The three suspects are also charged with one count each of assault with a weapon.
The 24-year-old and 18-year-old were held in custody for bail hearings, while the 27-year-old was released with a future court date.
An investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
