A trio of local companies has been honoured by the province with the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.

Chatham-Kent agriculture specialist Kim Cooper says Clear Creek Farms, Tomecek Agronomy Services, and Veritas Farm Business Management were given regional awards last week.

“There are 50 award winners right across the province. Companies can put in their own submission or be nominated by other people. We have three winners here in Chatham-Kent”, says Cooper. “We usually have some winners, and this year has been amazing.”

The awards recognize the innovative contributions of producers, processors, agri-food organizations and rural communities in Ontario.

“Anybody who works in agriculture knows we have a large number of innovative farmers. They can’t all be recognized at once, but this is a great example of innovation being recognized and showing the public what goes on in the agriculture industry”, says Cooper.
