A Winnipeg resident has been charged following a crash on Highway 40 that sent three people to hospital.

The Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews responded to the collision involving two passenger vehicles at the intersection of Highway 40 and Electric Line at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Both drivers and a passenger were taken to hospital by EMS to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A section of the highway was also closed temporarily while officers conducted an investigation.

As a result of the crash, a 53-year-old from Winnipeg has been charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.
