Three more people have lost their lives to COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent, for a total of 10 deaths locally in just over a week.
Chatham-Kent Public Health said two women, one in her 90s and another in her 80s, and a man in his 50s passed away from the virus on Monday. This brings the local death toll to 44 since the pandemic began.
There are currently 11 active outbreaks within Chatham-Kent — four at local group homes and another seven at long-term care and retirement homes.
The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance announced on Tuesday that the outbreak at the hospital’s Dialysis Unit at the Chatham site has been resolved. The outbreak was first declared on January 10.
There are no active COVID-19 outbreaks at CKHA at this time, however, the hospital is currently treating 14 patients for the virus.
The current seven-day rolling average case count now sits at 62 per day with 49 new infections reported on Tuesday.
