A tragic long weekend in Chatham-Kent with three more deaths caused by COVID-19.
Public Health officials say there were 263 new cases of the virus identified and 255 cases resolved, raising the active caseload to 347.
At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, there are 29 COVID-positive patients being treated, 21 of whom are unvaccinated.
Eight of the hospital’s 10 ICU beds are being used to care for COVID patients, six of whom are on ventilators.
Hospital officials say ICU occupancy sits at 90%, while the medical, surgical, and critical care beds are over 100% filled.
38 staff at the Health Alliance are currently off work due to the virus.
Public health also continues to monitor three COVID outbreaks across Chatham-Kent – two cases at Tilbury Manor Nursing Home, two at Riverview Gardens in Chatham, and a manufacturing facility with a total of 18 confirmed cases.
