Three community groups from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario were in the running for the Growing Home competition by BASF.
The Three Oaks Respite Cabin near Florence has been named the winning charity in Ontario, garnering just under 10,000 votes.
The Three Oaks Cabin aims to provide respite and mental health support to farmers and first responders. Officials say the prize money will help cover the cost of counselling services to guests at the cabin.
Other Ontario finalists included the Highgate District Agricultural Society and the Norfolk Little People’s Daycare.
This is the second year for the Growing Home competition, offering rural farming communities a chance to highlight the organizations that mean the most to them.
