Rondeau Provincial Park has been identified as a potential hot spot for Lyme disease this year.
The disease is typically carried by infected blacklegged ticks, one of two types of ticks typically found in Rondeau.
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit says there are a number of ways to protect yourself and your pets: wear long-sleeved shirts and pants to keep ticks off, wear bug spray with DEET on your skin and clothes, and avoid long grass where ticks tend to live.
