Get your resumes ready – a big job fair is coming to Tilbury.
Hosted by Chatham-Kent Economic Development Services, Geoffrey Wright, who is the Business Development Specialist at the Municipality, says there is a wide range of jobs available.
“There are almost 200 jobs and counting. Mechanical designers, contractor quality assurance technicians, industrial electricians, temporary labour pool positions, day general labourers, robotic technicians – I could go on,” says Wright.
Employers will also be recruiting manager positions, accountants, programmers, cooks, bartenders, dishwashers, and more.
Wright says the employers are from the Tilbury and Wheatley area.
“Presteve Foods, RS poles, Global Vehicle Systems, Pinchin Ltd., US ecology, Autoliv Canada, Mahle Filter Systems, Tilbury Auto Mall, and Canada Executive Search Group will have a team there as well,” Wright says.
This isn’t the first time Chatham-Kent Economic Development Services has held a job fair. Wright says they’ve held several recently, in response to the growth and expansion of the manufacturing industry.
“We have seen a fair amount of growth in both [Tilbury and Wheatley]. We’ve got folks that are expanding, they’re adding new assembly lines, new equipment – and they’re hiring,” says Wright.
He says this same kind of growth is being experienced across the municipality.
The job fair is taking place on Monday, June 11th from 11:30 AM – 6:30 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Tilbury. Pre-registration is recommended and can be done on Event Brite.
They’re also recommending that applicants come prepared for short, on-site interviews.
