A Tilbury man who allegedly stole a truck and set it ablaze has a court date and charges for his troubles.

Police say the man knocked on the door of a Winterline Rd. home this weekend and asked to use the phone to call a cab to take him to a local coffee shop because his truck broke down.

When he left in the cab the resident noticed that the truck was actually on fire and contacted police.

Turns out the truck and the plates that were on it were stolen from Kingsville. The suspect was located at a Tim Hortons but made a run for it on foot. He didn’t get far and was arrested. Theft, arson and failing to comply with his probation are among the charges he faces.
