Tilbury Manor COVID Outbreak Declared as a Precaution

A COVID outbreak has been declared at Tilbury Manor Nursing Home, but Chatham-Kent’s top doctor doesn’t want to raise any alarm bells.

Two positive case have been identified, but since one was tested with a rapid antigen test, Dr. David Colby says everyone in the facility will be retested next week. Given the high vaccination rates in long term care, Dr. Colby says declaring an outbreak is more of a precaution than anything.

There are now five outbreaks in the municipality, including 11 cases connected to an unidentified church, 2 cases linked to student transportation, and outbreaks at Chatham Christian Elementary and Tilbury Area Public School.

Overall, active cases across Chatham-Kent have risen to 52 with 17 new infections and 7 cases resolved.
