While Conservatives in Ontario are applauding the cancellation of the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan, one area politician says it came at a steep price. rick nicholls

Chatham-Kent Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls says the $70-million dollars used to set up the plan could have been put to better use.

“That $70-million was taxpayer money that is just gone. T me it smells of how this government is mismanaging Ontario tax dollars,” Nicholls says. “At this point in time they still have a Minister responsible for the ORPP. Even though it doesn’t exist this Minster is still getting paid.”

The ORPP was ditched following the expansion of the Canada Pension Plan.
