A wet and windy day in Chatham-Kent.

Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch with meteorologists calling for wind gusts near 100 kilometre an hour and the possibility of hail the size of ping pong balls.

Officials say thunderstorms are developing over Michigan and are expected to track eastward into Ontario. As the Great Lakes are very cold, at this time there is a great deal of uncertainty as to how strong these thunderstorms will be as they cross into Ontario.

The storms are expected to move to the east late this afternoon.

Residents are warned to be prepared and take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
