A new tourist tax is set to come into effect in Point Edward in the new year.

The move, raised by Tourism Sarnia-Lambton, was given the green light at this week’s council meeting.
Reports say Point Edward is the first community in Lambton County to support the 4% tax on hotels and AirBnBs.
The tax is expected to generate $1.2 million, which would be divided between Tourism Sarnia-Lambton and each community that signs on.
