Police are commending the actions of an individual who helped to take an alleged impaired driver off the road in Chatham-Kent.
The Ontario Provincial Police said the individual called officers to report the suspected drunk driver, who was located in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 on Monday shortly before 4 a.m.
The driver was pulled over and arrested.
As a result, a 30-year-old Etobicoke man is charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
The man was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
Police are thanking the individual who contacted police to report the incident.
