Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Weapons Charges

Drug and weapons charges have been laid following a traffic stop in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police pulled over a vehicle on Lisgar Street at 8:42 Tuesday night and say the woman behind the wheel was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the London Police Service and one of her male passengers was wanted by authorities in Toronto.

A search turned up significant quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, Canadian currency, and a firearm.

The 26-year-old woman from Chatham, 25-year-old man from Chatham-Kent, and 22-year-old man from Scarborough have all been charged with possessing a controlled substance for trafficking and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

All three suspects were taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
