Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

A routine traffic stop has landed a Chatham woman with drug charges.

Officers on patrol last night noticed a vehicle on Grant Street didn’t have the proper licence plates and pulled the driver over.

However, through further investigation, they found the woman, who also didn’t have a driver’s license, was carrying over $5,300 in drugs, including meth and cocaine, along with two knives, and some cash.

The 59-year-old has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of carrying a prohibited weapon, and other offences.
