A tragic long weekend crash has claimed three lives in Wallaceburg.

Emergency crews responded to a collision between a semi-tanker truck and a passenger vehicle at McNaughton Avenue and Wallace Street in Wallaceburg shortly before 10 o’clock Sunday night.

Investigators say the car drove into the intersection and struck the transport, which had been heading northbound on McNaughton.

The driver, a 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman, and two passengers, a 24-year-old Wallaceburg man and 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, a 25-year-old woman from Dover Township, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and transported to London in critical condition. A fourth passenger, a 22-year-old Wallaceburg woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

The driver of the transport suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
