Tragic Victoria Day Weekend On Ontario Roads, Waterways

It was a grim Victoria Day long weekend in Ontario with seven people losing their lives on the province’s roads and waterways.

The Ontario Provincial Police said four people were killed in separate road collisions while three boaters also died over the weekend.

During Canada Road Safety Week from May 14-20, police also laid close to 14,700 traffic-related charges including 7,860 for speeding and 204 for stunt driving.

Another 254 charges were laid for impaired driving, 158 for distracted driving and 155 more for careless driving.

Just over 900 drivers and passengers were also charged with not wearing their seatbelts.
