Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced at Mondays briefing his government is looking to extend the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit, and says he will have an update by the end of the week.
He said “ for now all I can say is that we will continue to be there to support Canadians”.
There is a 16 week eligibility period for the $2000 dollar a month payment for a 4 month total of $8000.
By the first week of July a lot of recipients will have exhausted their eligibility.
He added “ because so many are still struggling, the government is working on a solution to extend the benefit for people who can’t return to work yet.”
Right now the final date Canadians can receive the benefit is October 3rd.
