As much as $400,000 of work has gone into a new fitness area at the Chatham-Kent Family YMCA in Chatham.
The Y will be open for free from noon until 4 on Saturday to show off the newly revamped wellness centre.
General Manager Amy Wadsworth say new turf flooring in the fitness area makes the space more accessible for every fitness level and every age.
“We are really excited about tall the new toys and tools we have to be able to train,” Wadsworth says. “We are working towards functionability training, which means using our own body weight in a more upright position, we’re able to help and challenge from any fitness level from beginner all the way up to an advanced exerciser.”
Saturday’s grand opening also includes free Zumba classes, swimming, and other family-friendly activities.
