A potential new twin pad arena in Chatham-Kent should be coupled with outdoor sports fields, with a total cost of more than $64-million.

That’s the recommendation from municipal staff coming to council in a report on Monday.

The report says the price tag doesn’t include design, land acquisition, and traffic mitigation costs, or the potential demolition of Memorial and Erickson arenas.

The plan would include one arena with 22-hundred seats, another with 200 seats, and 60 acres of outdoor baseball, rugby, cricket, and soccer fields.

An application will be made to upper levels of government to cover $50-million of the price tag.
