Two Arrested In Downtown Chatham Arson

Two local men have been arrested after a fire was deliberately set outside of a business in downtown Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said emergency crews responded to a business on Fourth Street on November 28 just before 5 a.m., after cardboard and several garbage bins were used to start a fire.

Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, however, the property sustained some damage.

No injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, police were able to identify two suspects. A 22-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Monday, and a 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Tuesday.

Both of the accused have been charged with arson and were held in custody for a bail hearing.
