Police have taken more than $13,000 worth of illicit substances off the streets following a drug bust in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a Wellington Street East home on Thursday.
During the search, officers seized 72 grams of cocaine, 36 grams of methamphetamine, and 21 grams of fentanyl, with a total street value estimated at $13,500. Police also seized digital scales, drug packaging materials, cell phones and a significant quantity of Canadian currency.
As a result, a 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both from Chatham, have been arrested and charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing, while the woman was released with conditions and a future court date.
