Two people are facing charges following a melee in Chatham.

Police were called to the area of Barthe and Kent Street in Chatham Friday afternoon and say a disturbance involving a large group of young people had carried over from another location.

The teens fled when police arrived, but a 15-year-old was arrested after being spotted running over the Third Street Bridge. Police say the youth was held for a bail hearing on numerous charges.

An 18-year-old woman was also arrested after allegedly grabbing one young woman’s hair and burning the victim’s arm with a lighter. Authorities say she has since been charged with two counts of assault and assault with a weapon.

Chatham-Kent Police say the investigation into the situation remains ongoing.
