Two people have been charged following a coordinated drug bust in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Intelligence Unit obtained multiple search warrants for two pickup trucks and a Chatham residence on July 30 in connection with an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

That same day, officers stopped one of the pickup trucks at an unspecified location at around 3:15 p.m. and arrested a 57-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman. Shortly after, police executed the remaining search warrants and arrested a 66-year-old Chatham man.

During a search of the two pickup trucks and the residence, officers seized 63 grams of fentanyl, 15 grams of cocaine, 35 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 capsules of hydromorphone, and 3.5 capsules of Buprenorphine with an estimated street value of $17,365. Police also seized digital scales, a large quantity of Canadian currency, and two BB handguns.

As a result, the 57-year-old man and the 39-year-old woman have been charged with four counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking. The man is additionally charged with two counts of possession contrary to a prohibition order. The pair have since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for later this month.

The 66-year-old man was released from custody unconditionally.
