Chatham-Kent OPP have released more details about a serious crash on the 401 on Sunday evening.
Officers say around 4:40pm on July 30th, a tractor trailer collided with six vehicles on Highway 401 near Dillon Road. The vehicles were stopped on the highway due to a separate collision.
Two passengers in a pick-up truck were pronounced dead at the scene – a 42-year-old female and a 14-year-old boy – both from Amherstburg.
The driver of the pick-up, a 39-year-old male, was air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries, while a 12-year-old male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 401 between Bloomfield Road and Queens Line was closed for eleven hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
