One person has been arrested, and police are looking for another following the theft of a credit card in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a theft report at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday after the victim reported that their wallet had been stolen from a vehicle in a residential driveway on Thelma Street.
A credit card from the wallet was later used at a local business to make several purchases. Investigators were able to identify two suspects after reviewing surveillance footage.
A 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested the same day and charged with two counts each of theft of a credit card, possession of a stolen credit card, unauthorized use of a credit card, and fraud under $5,000. He was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
The second suspect, a Chatham woman, remains outstanding and a warrant has been issued for her arrest for similar charges.
