A pair of local charities are sharing in $12,000, thanks to local residents and Ford Canada.
Habitat for Humanity and Chatham Minor Baseball held Ford Drive events this fall, raising $6,000 each for their organizations.
Jason Chickowski with Chatham Minor Baseball says the money will be put to good use.
“In 2018, we have a team of 12-year-olds who are travelling to Cooperstown, New York to take part in an international baseball tournament, in the home of the Baseball Hall of Face. The funds from the Ford Drive event will be going towards that trip”, says Chickowski.
The proceeds were doled out today during at Victory Ford in Chatham.
Nancy McDowell, general manager of Habitat for Humanity says the $6000 raised at the ReStore Anniversary event this past September will help support the group’s next build in Pain Court.
“We’re hoping to start heading towards multiple builds a year. We have a family for 2018 and 2019, so there’s a need in the community. These funds go a long way towards doing two builds a year, rather than just one”, says McDowell.
Cheques were presented to both organizations at Victory Ford Lincoln in Chatham this morning.
