Two new possible measles exposure points have been identified in Chatham-Kent as the number of confirmed cases of the virus rises across the province.
Chatham-Kent Public Health said local residents may have been exposed to the measles virus if they attended the front lobby of the Chatham site of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday between 6:25 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Anyone who was in the Chatham Walmart on March 10 between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. may also have been exposed.
According to the health unit, there have been seven confirmed cases of measles in Chatham-Kent since January 2025.
Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, has also reported that 173 new cases of the virus have been identified in the province, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Ontario to 350 since the beginning of the year. This has resulted in 31 hospitalizations so far.
According to Dr. Moore, over 96 per cent of these cases are among individuals who are unimmunized or have unknown immunization status, and were exposed in their community or while travelling.
