Two people wanted on outstanding warrants have been arrested after officers were alerted by police licence plate scanners.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a vehicle in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Tilbury on Sunday at around 11:30 a.m., following a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition system.
The driver, a 32-year-old from Gravenhurst, was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Windsor Police Service and was taken into custody without incident.
Several hours later at around 6:30 p.m., officers stopped another vehicle on Communication Road after another alert from the licence plate scanner.
An officer determined that the St. Thomas Police Service had issued a warrant for a passenger in the vehicle. The 45-year-old from Sarnia was arrested without incident and transferred to St. Thomas.
