A high profile visitor will be touring the halls of Ursuline College next week.
Ontario’s Minister of Education, Jill Dunlop, plans to visit UCC on Monday, focusing on the Chatham high school’s skilled trades programs, including classrooms that specialize in construction and manufacturing technology, as well as hairstyling and aesthetics. Students will showcase their learning through projects in carpentry, welding, hairstyling, and spa treatments.
Scott Johnson, Director of Education with the St Clair Catholic District School Board, looks forward to the Minister’s visit.
“We are excited to welcome Minister Dunlop to UCC and highlight the exceptional work in our skilled trades programs,” Johnson said in a news release. “These opportunities allow students to build technical skills, explore career pathways, and connect their learning to meaningful futures.”
“Skilled trades education is a key pillar in Ontario’s efforts to build a strong and resilient workforce. I look forward to seeing firsthand how these programs are providing students with the hands-on experience and technical skills they need to shape their futures, while contributing to our province’s economy,” added Minister Jill Dunlop. “Our government is dedicated to expanding access to these pathways and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.”
Various other dignitaries, including Mayor Darrin Canniff and Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones will also be on hand for the Minister’s tour.
