Una McQuarrie

McQuarrie: Una C. (Steel), a resident of London and formerly of Thamesville, passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the age of 90. Born raised and resided in Kent County. Lived, loc6ab1caa-a195-44d6-9282-f0d547352aa6ved and laughed with all her family and friends, the oldest daughter to Burns Thomas Steel and Adelia (Wigle) Steel. Married happily to the late Herbert McQuarrie (1995) for 53 years. Together they had a family of four children. Cherished mother to Donna MacKay (Dave), Neil (Shirley), Burns, and David (Judy). Proud and adored grandmother to Deborah, Corrie, Douglas ,Colleen, Nathan, Michael, and Beth. Beloved great grandmother to Taylor, Josh, Chase, Ella, Brock, and Nyah. A loving sister to Murray (Evelyn), Robert, Ralph (Marie), and Betty (Kingsley). Aunt to 21 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Warmly remembered by many as a rural postal carrier for more than 37 years. Una was an active former member of the Tecumseh Rebekah Lodge #293, Thamesville for more than 45 years. She served as a happy volunteer for Chatham Meals on Wheels and was an active member of the St. James Presbyterian Church, Thamesville for over 60 years. Most recently she had been an active participant at the Kiwanis Seniors Community Centre, London.

Una will be remembered in the hearts of many who knew her as a generous and amusing person. At Una’s request cremation has taken place. A Graveside service will be held in Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in remembrance of Una to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Meals on Wheels (Chatham)or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
