The numbers have been crunched, and this year’s United Way of Chatham-Kent campaign has brought in $1.7 million dollars in donations.
Co-chairs Steve Pratt and Patricia Wright announced the total at the Links of Kent this morning.
Wright says being part of the campaign has been a huge eye-opener,
“One in three people are helped in Chatham-Kent by the programs and services that the United Way supports. That really shocked me – I had no idea how many people United Way supports and how many people need them.”
The United Way had been expecting to come in a little shy of its goal of $1.9 million, but Wright says they’re extremely happy with the total, and the vast majority of member agencies will still get their full funding.
