A not-for-profit organization has issued an urgent request to the community to ensure local children have the tools they need to succeed in school.

United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent has launched its BaCK to School program to raise money that will be used to secure supplies for students heading back to school in the fall.

“An important part of our vision is to ensure that no one is left behind. This becomes more urgent as the cost of living continues to rise and families are compelled to make tough choices. Community support for the 2024 BaCK to School program is critical as we work together to ensure kids in Chatham-Kent have the start they need to achieve future success,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent.

Through the community’s generosity, the United Way was able to support 967 Chatham-Kent students by providing 52 Teachers Totes in 2023.
