A special guest speaker will be talking about mental health with local Catholic school students next month.

The St Clair Catholic District School Board will be welcoming best-selling author Sam Demma to Ursuline College on April 24.

Demma’s talk, entitled Empty Your Backpack addresses the mental burdens many of us carry and empowers individuals to reflect on the negative beliefs and thoughts that hold them back.

The event is open to students from across Chatham-Kent to take part in the 60-minute talk, which organizers hope will guide students to develop leadership skills, reflect on their personal growth, and embrace a positive mindset.

A similar event is being held for Lambton County students at St Patrick’s Catholic High School in Sarnia on April 23.

Recently, Demma recorded a podcast with St. Clair Catholic’s Chris Preece, Manager of Mental Health Services on the importance of mental health in schools. CLICK HERE to listen to the podcast.
