Unsecured Toddler Found In Speeding Vehicle

Police are issuing a reminder to parents to ensure their children are properly secured in their car seats following an incident on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a vehicle in the westbound lanes of the highway near Charring Cross Road at around 2:39 a.m. on Monday, after it was clocked at 45 km/h over the posted speed limit.

When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered that the driver and a three-year-old passenger were not wearing their seat belts correctly.

As a result, a 30-year-old Windsor resident is now charged with speeding and driving with a child passenger that is not properly secured.

Authorities are urging all drivers to ensure their child’s safety by correctly installing child car seats that are properly sized and used following the manufacturer’s specifications.
