A Chatham man will have to answer to a judge in court after allegedly harassing his former partner.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers received a report on Monday about a 19-year-old woman receiving repeated unwanted communications from the same man.

Despite being told to stop, the man continued to contact the woman over the phone, by text message and other means of communication.

It was also learned that the woman had been physically assaulted in October 2025 after an argument with the man escalated.

As a result, a 19-year-old Chatham man is now charged with assault and criminal harassment. He was later released from custody with conditions and a May court date.
